Dublin - Lazy and Elegant

Dublin is the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Ireland, located near the midpoint of Ireland's east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey and forms the centre of the Dublin Region. Originally founded as a centre of Viking settlement, the city has been Ireland's capital city since medieval times. Dublin enjoys a maritime temperate climate characterized by mild winters, cool summers, and a lack of temperature extremes. The city is the primary centre of education in Ireland, with three universities and several other higher education institutions.

There is a vibrant night life in Dublin — the most internationally notorious area for these activities is the Temple Bar area south of the Liffey. This area has become synonymous with stag and hen parties and tourists, causing many locals to steer clear of the area.

The Great Wall of China - Truly great!

The Great Wall of China is the world's largest man-made structure, stretching over a formidable 6,352 km from Shanhai Pass on the Bohai Sea in the east, at the limit between "China proper" and Manchuria (Northeast China), to Lop Nur in the southeastern portion of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Along most of its arc, it roughly delineates the border between North China and Inner Mongolia.

The Great Wall was originally a project of the Qin dynasty designed to keep out the nomadic Xiongnu invaders from the north. Some of the wall was built during the Qin, but most of it that we see today was constructed during the Ming dynasty.

Before the use of bricks, the Great Wall was mainly built from earth, stones and wood. Transporting the large quantity of materials required for construction was difficult, so builders always tried to use local resources. Over the mountain ranges, the stones of the mountain were exploited and used; while in the plains, earth was rammed into solid blocks to be used in construction.

Over the last century, sea levels have risen about twenty centimeters. The ocean is likely to continue rising and this threatens the existence of Maldives.

Maldives consist of 26 atolls which have been divided into 20 administrative districts and one capital city. The culture in this archipelago is derived from a number of sources and factors. These include its proximity to Sri Lanka and South India, East Africa, the Malayan Archipelago and the Middle East via its conversion to Islam in the 12th century,

Stunning beauty of Tahiti

Tahiti is the largest island of French Polynesia, located in the archipelago of Society Islands in the southern Pacific Ocean. Tahitians are French citizens with full civil and political rights. The Tahitian language and the French language are both in use.

Lagoons and rings of coral surround most of the small islands. The tropical weather and rich volcanic soil combine to provide a backdrop of lush vegetation and exotic flowers to the sparkling turquoise water. Underwater is a feast of color as well with schools of tropical fish darting in and out of the coral reefs. The shimmering beaches also beckon, while celebrations of the Tahitian culture explode year-round in rhythms of drums, vivid costumes and wild dances.

Tahiti was estimated to have settled by Polynesians between AD 300 and 800 coming from Tonga and Samoa, although some estimates place the date earlier. The fertile island soil combined with fishing provided ample food for the population.

Rice Terraces of Banaue, Philippines

The Banaue Rice Terraces are 2000-year old terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by ancestors of the Batad indigenous people. The terraces were built with minimal equipments, largely by hand. They are located approximately 1500 meters above sea level and cover 10,360 square kilometers of the mountainside. The paddy fields are fed by an ancient irrigation system located from the rain forests above the mountains.

Locals to this day still tend to the rice and vegetables on the terraces, although more and more younger Ifugaos do not find farming appealing, often opting for the more lucrative hospitality industry generated by the Rice Terraces.
